With 19 years of professional experience at PBR HAWAII, Mr. McMillen has served as a Project Manager on the landscape architectural team for over a decade. Having grown up on the Garden Island of Kaua‘i, Mr. McMillen has a deep appreciation for natural environments and understands the role that ecological design plays in protecting natural systems. A LEED Accredited Professional since 2009, he applies the latest sustainability concepts to all projects he works on, which vary from commercial, mixed-used development, institutional, to hospitality. He is currently managing ʻAʻali‘i Condominium, Luana Garden Villas at Honua Kai Resort and Spa, The Wailea Hills Collection (planned residential development), and the Wailea Multi-family and Mixed-Used Master Plan Development.
With broad experience from master planning to site design, and specializing in integrative planting and hardscape design, and construction management, Mr. McMillen has contributed to the success of projects like the popular Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa, and the award-winning LEED Platinum certified Omidyar Kindergarten to First Grade Neighborhood at Punahou School.
Mr. McMillen also lends his creative design expertise and keen graphic representation skills to the planning team for entitlement and permitting processes, most recently assisting in Planned Development Permit applications for various parcels within the 60-acre Ward Village Master Planned Neighborhood. He managed and assisted with the Ward Village Streetscape Design Concepts Package, which received the 2018 Professional Award of Excellence in Planning and Analysis from the Hawaiʻi Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
Prior projects that Mr. McMillen has managed and assisted in include Keahuolū Historic Preserve, Victoria Ward Park, Ko Olina Beach Villas, Honua Kai Resort and Spa, Hali‘i Kai Ocean Club at Waikoloa, Hawaiʻi Tokai International College, the Pearl Harbor Child Development Center, and LEED Gold certified Case Middle School at Punahou School.
