PBR HAWAII was responsible for the landscape architectural design of Kahala Nui – Senior Living. The design intent for the retirement community landscape was to establish a tropical setting similar to that of a Hawaiian resort. The ambiance is simple yet elegant using a specific plant palette of tropical foliage and flowering accents. Special paving was used to signify a sense of arrival and entry for the Independent Living Building. A serene garden and water feature enhances the building’s internal courtyard and dining area. A fitness center is located within the courtyard of the Independent Living Building. The swimming pool and spa is surrounded with such plants as palms, plumerias, and tropical shrubs. A fully automatic irrigation system has been implemented to support plant establishment, reduce maintenance, and ensure long-term growth of the landscape.
