PBR HAWAII, along with Charles Pankow Builders, Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo, and Wilson Okamoto & Associates, completed interior and exterior renovations to portions of the Outrigger Wailea Resort Hotel. PBR HAWAII’s focus was on a landscape design to create simple yet elegant outdoor spaces for three major areas within the hotel property.
First, a new lobby garden was built in an area that formerly contained the old porte cochere and auxiliary parking. The garden features an expansive lawn designed around existing banyan trees offering impressive views from the new porte cochere and reception desk. A subtle natural grass stage was created with a low curving moss rock wall retaining the natural terrain. In addition, a small water feature adds a focal element for arriving guests.
Next, landscape renovations were completed around the existing restaurant and swimming pool. Here, the emphasis was to improve pedestrian circulation and reinforce ocean views. Finally, a new kids water activity play area was constructed mauka of the luau grounds at the southeast end of the property. This area features water slides and a water play structure within a shallow pool.
