PBR HAWAII’s resume includes work in South Korea supporting MM International and the Nakata Planning Group in the development of the Camp Humphreys Master Plan. Camp Humphreys is located near the city of Pyongtaek about 35 miles south of Seoul. The installation will become the future home of the 8th U.S. Army as they relocate troops from the Yongsan Garrison in Seoul. Through joint efforts with the Korean Government, Camp Humphreys will nearly double the 1,220-acre installation to 2,328 acres.
PBR HAWAII’s involvement with the Camp Humphreys Master Plan was to support the planning team in the development of the Master Plan, Design Guidelines, and layout of a new 18-hole Golf Course and other landscape concepts. Plans include a new headquarters, additional troop and family housing, officer’s quarters, schools, improvement to the existing airfield, mission support facilities, and training areas. Because of the low-lying rice fields and the bordering Anseong River, flooding and drainage were major site planning constraints.
