PBR HAWAII prepared a landscape concept for the Leeward Community College Education and Innovation Instructional Facility based on several key landscape ideas including: campus circulation, aesthetics, cohesive theming, government and utility regulations, minimization of cost, and ease of maintenance. The landscaped area serves as a cultural and sustainable educational tool while adapting the theme of “Hawaiian Sense of Place” with the rest of the campus. This was achieved by incorporating native Hawaiian plants into the landscape design that were grown on campus by students in the Education Garden Nursery. The landscape design also serves as an educational tool by integrating signs displaying significant historical and diverse cultural facts.
PBR HAWAII also completed a Chapter 343, HRS Environmental Assessment which was approved by the University of Hawai‘i with a Finding of No Significant Impact.
