PBR HAWAII assisted Makila Kai LLC to prepare and process applications for a workforce housing community in Launiupoko, West Maui under Chapter 201H, Hawaiʻi Revised Statutes. PBR HAWAII’s scope of work included: 1) master planning 2) preparation of all required documents; 3) consultation with government agencies and homeowners’ associations; and 4) presentations to the Maui County Council. Makila Kai proposed 25 workforce homes on lots approximately one-half acre in size and 24 market-rate agricultural lots ranging from approximately 1.5 to slightly less than two acres in size. The plan for Makila Kai also featured approximately 50 percent of the area in greenbelt, park, open space, and setback areas to foster a rural community character.
