Wai‘ale Master Planned Community

PBR HAWAII assisted A&B Properties, Inc. in the preparation of a master plan, an environmental impact statement (EIS), entitlement processing, and community outreach for Wai‘ale, a 545-acre extension of A&B’s original “Dream City,” in Kahului, Maui. Approximately 2,550 residential units, along with industrial, commercial, and parks are proposed for Wai‘ale.

Through a series of public charrettes conducted by PBR HAWAII, the community crafted a long-range vision for Wai‘ale to create a socially integrated community with a unique sense of identity and character.  The State Land Use Commission accepted the Wai‘ale Final EIS in 2011 and amended the State Land Use District Boundary from Agricultural to Urban in 2012.

As part of comprehensive services for A&B Properties’ Wai‘ale Master Planned Community, PBR HAWAII prepared an extensive community outreach newsletter. The newsletter: 1) updated charrette participants and the general public regarding the planning process, project ideas, and guiding principles; and 2) served as a vital component of the overall community relations strategy.
